Quirky Sites along the way...

Isn't it great that we all have different thinking styles. That there are those that see life just a little different than the rest and have talents to share their views with the rest of us. The eccentric Abita Mystery House in Abita Springs, Louisiana: For a measly $3 you can take a stroll through the mind of John Preble, a truly unique individual who realized that people enjoyed seeing his collections of stuff...like phones, bottle caps, paint by number or the odd pieces like the ever poplular Bassigator hanging on the wall. Screaming Heads: A surreal outdoor art-scape in the rolling hills of the Almaguin Highlands, Ontario Canada. The artist opens his property for visitors to stroll the grounds and get right up close to (and in!) his massive concrete sculptures. His house is also a work of art and has been featured on the TV series Weird Homes. Alexandria, Indiana is the home of the World's Largest Ball of Paint, certified by the Guinness Book of World Records. Mike Carmichael started painting a baseball in 1977. The sphere has grown to 3500 lbs and keeps growing. You can schedule a visit to see Mike's work which is located in a barn on his property. Who's your Mummy? Dairy Queen and Bluegrass go hand in hand in Rocky Mount, VA where you get your fill of hot biscuits and hot bluegrass! Rocky Mount Dairy Queen hosts the DQ Band every Thursday morning (Sept thru May) from 9-10AM. They make a fine biscuits and gravy! Go back in the evening every 2nd and 4th Thursday for more bluegrass from 6-9PM. Everyone is welcome and there is no cover charge. And who Knew? Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederacy, brought his family to Montreal, QC to keep them safe during the War between the States. A plaque to verify this stands in the location where the old John Lovell House once stood.
