As you may know, with great dismay we had to cut down our beautiful, brilliant 99 year old Sugar Maple out front of The Claiborne House B&B. Now we are left with a big ol' stump!
Local author Becky Mushko came by with some of her books for our guests and we stood out front and discussed the big ol' stump. We had planned on a stump grinder (is that anything like an organ grinder, if so where's the monkey?) but we do like the stump, I mean the tree was very old and the stump is pretty cool!
So here is my question to you, if you had a large stump at the front of your property, what would you do with it? Place some chrysanthemums on top of it, or in it? a Statuary of a Confederate Soldier?
There is an Aussie expression "The Black Stump" and by Aborigines ‘Weetalibah-Wallangan’ click here to learn why they use this term.
Please provide your suggestions in the comments section on MY COFFEE TALK BLOG ONLY (so they are all in one place). The best idea will receive a prize from The Claiborne House Bed and Breakfast, something regional, something fun from our gift shop area! (If you answer anon I have no way of contacting you, so please log in or give me an email address after I announce the winner. Prize can only be mailed in the USA). COMMENT HERE Contest ends Sept 15th, 2011.
