May 19, 2012: Here at the Gillum House Bed & Breakfast in West Virginia we are involved with many things that sometimes overlap a bit. THAT is what makes being an innkeeper interesting. One thing that helps is having really nice guests and a husband who will serve what I cooked for breakfast on mornings like today.

As soon as the serving dish hit the table, the innkeeper turned into a bocce player. The City of Shinnston WV has 2 tournament grade (under roof with lighting) bocce courts. Today, the United Way had a fundraiser tournament. WesBanco Bank, Fairmont Federal Credit Union, WYK Associates, WBOY-TV, WAJR-FM, Pepsi, City of Shinnston, and Harrison County United Way fielded teams for the Tournament.

Reuben Perdue of WAJR-FM is usually putting his body through discomfort for charity but this time it was to be pure fun and since the WAJR-FM staff bailed on him, Reuben recruited Steve Hamilton, a member of Reuben’s Facebook Morning Edition Fan Club, Carla Hinerman, Municipal Judge for the City of Shinnston, and Kathleen Panek, innkeeper.
